Introducing eTome, India’s First E Ink Educational Platform

Here comes what is being touted as the first E Ink tablet that has been designed and developed in India. The tablet, which recently appeared on Reddit, is being projected for use in the educational sector in the country. There aren’t a lot of details available at the moment, but what is known is that the tablet that goes by the name eTome comes with a 10.3-inch E Ink display. The display is front lit, which means you will always have the optimum reading experience irrespective of whether you are out in the sun or in the dark.

Among the other features of the e-ink tablet are an integrated microphone and a 1W speaker. The device, however, runs Android 11, which is several generations behind the current version. Most e-note devices that have been launched in recent times come pre-installed with Android 14. The company stated the devices come with several apps installed that should help you get started right away.

Those include apps such as Loka, which serves as an all-in-one educational app and offers a huge collection of textbooks. Similarly, Nirmana is a note-taking app, while Aaarna, as the company described, is your go-to app for exam preparation. It comes with a few other apps designed to help students achieve their career goals with ease.

A 3200 mAh battery keeps the device alive, which its makers said can last weeks on a single charge. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Onboard RAM size varies from 4 GB to 8 GB, while internal storage ranges from 32 GB to 128 GB. Plus, there is also the option to add more storage when needed. The accompanying stylus can be used for making notes and does not need to be recharged. The stylus also comes with an eraser for added convenience.

However, it is not known when the eTome is going to reach the mass market or what it is going to cost. Maybe we will have more on this in the coming days. Stay tuned.
