New iReader Smart X5 Ultra Tablet Featuring E Ink Carta 1300 Display Launched

iReader has launched its new Smart X5 Ultra e-ink tablet. The e-note device is designed for productivity and is aimed at use in an office environment. It is slated to go on sale via Jing Dong starting June 16 and is priced at 3,899 yuan in China, which comes out to around 542 USD.

Much of the specs have been kept a secret, though what is known is that the e-ink tablet features an E Ink Carta 1300 display having 300 PPI resolution. iReader said the new Smart X5 Ultra has a display that offers 17 percent better clarity than the Smart X3 Pro. The display is designed using a new process characterised by a flexible screen and a nano-etched glass layer.

The display, however, lacks front light, which means readability is dependent entirely on ambient light. However, it is not known how big the display is, though it seems to be in the 10-inch category. The e-note is accompanied by a stylus which will let you jot down notes, journal, annotate, and draw. Having a stylus is imperative for use in the office, where you will find good use of the same.

The tablet otherwise measures a mere 4.9 mm in thickness and weighs just 380 grams. This makes it among the thinnest and lightest e-note devices around. Making up the core of the device is an octa-core processor that is manufactured as per a 6 nm process. The rest of the specs, as already stated, are kept under wraps even though pre-orders are currently being accepted.
