reMarkable to Introduce Native Support for German Language Soon

reMarkable announced its e-ink tablets will support the German language from June 12 onwards. This marks a significant development considering that this would be the first time that the remarkable e-ink tablets would be hitting a non-English speaking market. With 95 million German-speaking people, that makes for a huge market that reMarkable is aiming to tap into with its reMarkable 2 and reMarkable Paper Pro e-ink tablet devices.

All of this is going to be via a software update that the company plans to release soon. It is going to be software version 3.20 of the reMarkable OS that will introduce the German language to the reMarkable tablet range. This will allow the German-speaking people to select the German language from the device settings option. Once that is activated, everything from the menu, navigation, tools, and core navigation is going to be in the German language.

“Introducing German into our offering is part of our mission to help people think better — many naturally think better in their mother tongue,” said Phil Hess, CEO of reMarkable. “And it’s part of our broader effort to bring our unique paper tablets to many more who share our vision of more focused digital tools.”

The company stated that the beta version of the software update has already been made available from May 12 onwards. Till the final version of the software is ready, some elements of the User Interface will continue to be in English. Those include setup, lock screen, and release notes.

There is also going to be a German version of the remarkable website that will go live soon. This is aimed at better serving the German people as they will have all the information about the store and the product displayed in their local language.
