The Paper 7 RLCD tablet which had hit headlines just about a month back following its crowdfunding debut is now available to buy via the company online sales channel. This comes after the tablet has had a very successful debut on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. With that over, anyone can buy the Paper 7 tablet from the company itself.
The one aspect of the Paper 7 tablet that makes it unique is its 7.8-inch RLCD display. There is zero blue light emission, which together with the glare-free display, makes it extremely eye-friendly. RLCD displays are also known to be reflective in nature, which is another quality that matches with E Ink displays.
You can view content even under direct sunlight thanks to its reflective nature. The content does not get washed out or appear dark, as is the case with regular LCD displays. Similarly, it would need ambient light for viewing content on the screen. The display otherwise offers 1024 x 768 pixels resolution. It supports 16.7 million colors which ensures a completely uninhibited viewing experience with no compromises as such.
With a 60Hz refresh rate, the display is perfectly suited for viewing fast moving content such as video or games. The lack of extensive color support together with a slow refresh rate, happens to be among the biggest disadvantages of an e ink display. None of that with an RLCD panel which offers the goodness of an e ink panel with none of its disadvantages.
The Paper 7 otherwise comes with a 2 GHz octa-core processor and up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 of storage. You can also use the stylus for jotting down notes. The pen supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and is a boon for creative professionals. Keeping the device alive is a 3100 mAh battery. It supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity.
The Paper 7 runs Android 14 out of the box. You can download any app you want from the Play Store, which makes it a truly versatile tablet. Other features include integrated speakers and microphone along with front and rear 5 MP and 8 MP cameras, respectively. It measures just 5.5mm in thickness and weighs 242 grams.
