Amazon has extended its Kindle Recaps iOS rollout, bringing its popular book series summary feature to the Kindle app for iPhone and iPad. First launched on Kindle devices in April, Recaps are now part of the iOS experience, helping readers quickly catch up before diving into the next book.

What Is Kindle Recaps iOS?
The Kindle Recaps iOS feature provides short, TV-style “Previously on…” summaries for book series. This is especially useful when you return to a series after weeks or months away. Until now, Recaps were available only on Kindle e-readers, but the expansion to iOS makes the feature accessible on more devices.
How to Use Kindle Recaps on iOS
- Update to Kindle app version 7.40.1 or later.
- In your Library, long-press a series grouping or use the three-dot menu.
- Select “View Recaps” to see the summary.
This rollout ensures that Kindle Recaps iOS users can access the same quick refreshers as Kindle device owners.
A Refresher: Kindle Recaps First Launch
Amazon originally introduced Recaps in April 2025 via a Kindle software update (version 5.18.1 and later). On Kindle devices, the feature appears on the series page or in the menu. The move to iOS shows Amazon’s commitment to making Recaps widely available.
AI-Powered, Human-Reviewed
The Kindle Recaps iOS feature uses generative AI to produce summaries, which are then reviewed by Amazon moderators for quality and accuracy. This blend of AI speed and human oversight helps ensure the summaries are useful while minimizing errors.
Availability
Currently, Kindle Recaps iOS is rolling out in the United States only. Amazon has not yet confirmed launch dates for other regions or for Android users.
