Onyx Boox has introduced the Faraday e-reader device which forms part of its international devices line-up. The Faraday comes with a 7.8-inch Kaleido 3, color e-paper display. The display shows 4,096 colors and offers a pixel density of 300 PPI and 150 PPI in black-and-white and color modes respectively. The display also benefits from a front-light feature that allows for warm and cool temperature controls for enhanced viewing experience in any ambient lighting conditions.
The Faraday is built around an octa-core 2 GHz Qualcomm processor that works in tandem with a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of ROM. Power comes from a 5000 mAh battery which should last a couple of weeks easily. Wireless connectivity options the e-reader supports include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. There is also the USB Type-C port onboard with an OTG interface. Other features of the Faraday e-reader include built-in speakers and a microphone.
Another positive side of the Faraday is its metal build, it being an alloy of magnesium and aluminum that the e-reader is made of. This ensures the e-reader exceptional strength while still being light enough for single-handed usage. At 8.3mm of thickness, it might not be the thinnest around but should be par for the course.
Lastly, the Faraday e-reader is meant for sale in Russia as of now though it is not known which other international markets the e-reader is going to be introduced to in the future. Pricing too is anybody’s guess at the moment. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, it might be worth mentioning it has been just a couple of weeks back that Onyx Boox has launched the Note X3 Pro and Note X3 Youth Edition E Ink tablets in China.
