E Ink announced the launch of its new Sustainable Board advertising platform, which it said has been developed in partnership with the Japanese company Oricom. Based on the E Ink Spectra 6 color e-paper display technology, the new Sustainable Board is being described as the next-generation advertising solution that offers exceptional energy savings and is highly environmentally friendly. The new Sustainable Board ad medium will reach the markets under the Oricom brand, Mirapale.
The E Ink Spectra 6-based Sustainable Board offers vivid color expression that makes it quite akin to printed paper. Apart from this, the display also has wide viewing angles, which is another paper-like attribute and one that makes it well-suited for advertising purposes. Additionally, the display being essentially reflective in nature makes it readable even in sunlight or bright light conditions, as is the case with printed paper.
The E Ink Spectra 6 display is also known for its extreme power efficiency. This stems from the fact that e-paper display consumes power only when the display changes. Otherwise, it can hold on to an image without drawing any power. All of these qualities make it perfect for use as an advertising medium where you need to have a message or an ad displayed for a lengthy period of time before requiring an update.
“We are very grateful to collaborate with Oricom, a leader in the advertising industry, in the electronic paper signage area,” said JM Hung, Vice President of Business Center at E Ink. “As we enter an era of global environmental preservation and environmentally conscious solutions are increasingly sought, our ePaper is a display technology that aligns with a more environmentally-friendly future. Through our collaboration with Oricom, we are confident we can contribute to advancing SDG activities in society.
Places where you’d expect the Sustainable Board to be deployed include lobbies, reception areas, boardrooms, at exhibitions, showrooms where it can be used for displaying product descriptions, and so on.
“Amidst the expansion of corporate activities with a long-term vision, prioritizing environmental protection and social responsibility, advertising is similarly called upon to contribute from this perspective,” said Akemi Nakajima, President of Oricom. “We developed the Sustainable Board alongside E Ink as a specific method for this. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen the relationship between both companies, supporting corporate growth while contributing to realizing a sustainable society.”
