Kobo Has a Software Update for Clara Colour and Clara BW e-Readers

Kobo has released a new software update that, intriguingly, will apply only to the Kobo Clara Colour and Kobo Clara BW e-reader devices. The company is not sharing specific details about the latest update, except that it offers the usual stuff like bug fixes and stability improvements.

The last time Kobo had come up with new updates was almost eight months ago. What is beyond explanation is that the company chose to offer bug fixes and stability improvements after so many months to only two of its e-readers while ignoring the other e-reader devices in its lineup. Nonetheless, the said Kobo devices will now be running the updated version 4.42.23296.

As is usually the case, it is going to take weeks for the update to make it to every Clara Colour and Kobo Clara BW e-reader device around the world. The other option for you will be to visit the update center on the said Kobo devices and download the update manually. Otherwise, you can always wait for it to get downloaded and installed on your device automatically.

Meanwhile, in a recent development, all Kobo devices are barred from accessing Pocket services. It is strange that the latest update has nothing to do with that. Maybe Kobo plans to deal with that in a future software update. Till then, users of the Clara Colour and Kobo Clara BW can look forward to the latest firmware update.
