The iFlytek Smart Office Book X5 E Ink tablet has officially been announced, ITHome reported. Aimed primarily at the enterprise segment, the Smart Office Book X5 comes with specs that offer the perfect balance between high-performance productivity and robust security features on one hand and long-lasting battery life on the other to cater to the professional business needs of the future. Among the features the E Ink tablet comes with are conference recording to text, AI adaptive meeting minutes, and efficient note-taking.
There are going to be two versions available: the standard version with 64 GB of storage and the Pro model with 128 GB of native storage. Both will go on sale in China initially and are priced at 4999 yuan (696 USD) and 5699 yuan (794 USD) respectively. The 10.65-inch E Ink display offers a crisp 300 PPI resolution. The standard model comes in a shade of gray and moon gray cover, while the Pro model offers two combinations – a golden shade for the device coupled with an ink blue cover and a gray shade for the device paired with a classic black cover.
The new X5 also boasts a super-thin profile, measuring just 4.6mm in thickness. iFlytek is claiming it to be 15 percent thinner than its predecessor. Further, at just 355 grams, it is also among the lightest E Ink tablets around. Made from aluminium-based carbonised composite material, the X5 comes with a robust build that is rigid and strong. The Smart Office Book X5 is claimed to be the thinnest in the world.
The super-thin profile has been achieved by reducing the battery core thickness from 2.5 mm to 2.15 mm. The Wacom custom ultra-thin electromagnetic film has also been reduced from 0.28 mm to 0.2 mm in thickness, while the capacitive layer thickness has been reduced from 0.15 mm to an ultra-thin 0.038 mm. All of this has contributed to the Smart Office Book X5 being the slimmest E Ink tablet currently available.
Among the biggest USPs of the device is the integration of iFLYTEK Spark large model locally. This ensures the device is capable of performing five offline AI functions. Those include noise reduction, voice transcription, role-based transcription, translation from Chinese to English, and generating meeting minutes. All of the above functionalities can be performed in offline mode. For note-taking, the table comes bundled with the third-generation Wacom-customized Dongyun pen that does not need to be charged and offers a very natural writing feel.
Powering the device is the octa-core MediaTek MT8189 chipset, with 9T NPU computing power. Plus, there is also the in-house developed GPU fast refresh technology, which allows for a 50 percent increase in system performance. Both the standard and Pro models come with 6 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. A 4,500 mAh battery keeps the lights on and is claimed to last a full week on a single charge. The battery is designed as per BYD’s 4.5V high-voltage battery technology and has 15 percent higher energy density, while battery capacity has increased by 7 percent. All of this while still achieving a 14 percent reduction in battery thickness.
Coming to its software, it runs Android, though it is not known which version it comes installed with. The company, however, stated that the device supports the installation of third-party APK files. Other features include support for OCR correction of handwritten notes, converting conference recordings to text, and voice-to-text conversion in real-time.
Besides, the device also comes with a speaker registration feature, which essentially creates ‘new matches for different speakers based on different voices’ in real-time. The tablet can also generate meeting minutes thanks to its advanced AI functions and allows for free switching between Chinese/English/dialects. There is also an 8-microphone array built into the tablet capable of 360-degree omnidirectional sound pickup and features a customized noise reduction algorithm.
It is not known at the moment when the iFlytek Smart Office Book X5 E Ink tablet will go on sale in China or elsewhere in the world. Stay tuned.
