Kobo is gearing up to unveil three new e-reader devices, and the launch is expected to happen as soon as April 10th, 2024, Good e-Reader reported. The official Rakuten Kobo Books account recently teased followers with a cryptic image, signaling the imminent announcement. Sources suggest that Kobo will introduce the Kobo Libra Colour and Kobo Clara Colour next week, with pre-orders likely available until May. Both the new e-reader devices will feature the E INK Kaleido 3 e-paper technology and the latest Carta 1300 panels to deliver an immersive reading experience.
In addition to the vibrant color models, Kobo is set to unveil the black and white version of the Clara simultaneously. However, industry insiders speculate that this model may utilize the older Carta 1200 panels.
The flagship Libra Colour will sport a 7-inch screen, while the Clara Colour will feature a slightly smaller 6-inch display. Both devices will boast a crisp resolution of 300 PPI for black-and-white content and 150 PPI for color, ensuring sharp and vibrant visuals.
Notably, the Libra Color will offer full compatibility with the optional Kobo Pencil, enabling users to unleash their creativity by sketching, jotting down notes, and even adding illuminated nightlights to their favorite reads. While the Kobo Pencil is an optional accessory and not included with the device, its integration enhances the versatility of the Libra Colour.
Pricing details have also emerged, with the Libra Colour expected to retail for CAD 249.99, offering exceptional value for its advanced features. Meanwhile, the Clara Colour will be priced at CAD 179, providing an accessible entry point into the world of color e-reading. For those who prefer a traditional black-and-white experience, the Clara B&W will be available at a competitive price of $159.99.
