It was just a few weeks back that Pocketbook revealed the Verse Lite e-reader. The company is now selling the e-reader, with the Verse Lite available to order online via Amazon in the US. The Verse Lite is priced $156 which is inclusive of shipping costs.
The PocketBook Verse Lite comes across as an entry-level e-reader targeted at the affordable segment. It features a 6-inch E Ink Carta display having 212PPI or 1024 × 768 pixels resolution. It comes with a front light feature which allows for a comfortable reading experience in dimly lit or even in completely dark conditions. A unique aspect of the Verse Lite is that it does not come with any physical page turn buttons, and is the first from Pocket to be so equipped in several years.
Underneath lies a 1 GHz dual-core processor that works in tandem with 512 GB of memory and 8 GB of storage. The latter might sound paltry, though there is also the provision to add more storage via microSD cards. The e-reader runs Linux and comes with a 1000 mAh battery. The company is yet to reveal how long that is going to last on a single charge, though it should be a couple a weeks easily before requiring a recharge.
The Verse Lite supports Wi-Fi, while there is a USB-C port for recharging as well as for wired data transfer. It can decipher 25 of the most popular e-books and graphic formats, which means it can be used to read e-books as well as manga and digital comics. Users will be able to source content from most online bookstores out there thanks to its support for Adobe DRM and LCP DRM-protected formats. It allows for lending books online and comes with a built-in dictionary.
The Verse Lite measures 109.2 × 154.9 × 7.6 mm in dimensions and weighs around 170 grams.
