The Boox Palma 2 shouldn’t need any introduction. It has been a raging hit ever since its launch, and much of its success has to do with its size and shape. While Amazon also offers 6-inch-sized Kindle e-readers, the one thing that sets the Palma apart is its smartphone-like shape, which makes it more handy and pocketable than a Kindle. And the best thing here is that the new Palma 2 is on sale.
The ongoing Prime Day Sale has brought the price of the Palma down to even less than what it was before President Trump’s additional tariff came into effect. So, while it used to be priced $280, the price increased to $300 after the imposition of the tariff and other price adjustments. Even at $280, the Palma 2 was never quite cheap. The extra $20 made things all the more tricky.
Fortunately, things are better now that the Palms 2 is currently selling on Amazon for $270. That makes it even $10 cheaper than what it cost before the extra tariffs came into effect. This might not be a huge savings, though the fact is you are eventually getting to save $30, given that the tariffs are likely here to stay. So, if you have been eyeing the Palms 2 but the high price tag has been preventing you from hitting the Buy button, you can do so now.
The Palma 2 offers an excellent 6.13-inch E Ink display having an eye-popping 300 PPI resolution. More specifically, it is the E Ink Carta 1200 display that the Palma 2 comes with. The display is front-lit with warm and cold temperature controls. Under the hood lies an octa-core processor that is connected to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of ROM. It supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
The phone runs Android 13 and supports the Google Play Store. There is also a 16 MP camera and LED flash combo on the rear. Other features include a G-sensor, a fingerprint sensor-enabled power button, a micro-SD card slot, an integrated speaker, and dual microphones. Power comes from a 3,950 mAh battery, which can last several weeks easily. It weighs 170 grams and measures 6.3 x 3.1 x 0.31 inches.
If you are looking for something even cheaper, there is the first-gen Palma, which is now selling on Amazon for an even lower $245.99. This translates to a saving of $34. There are also fewer features on the Palma. The first-gen Palma runs Android 11, has a slightly less powerful processor, and does not offer a fingerprint scanner. If you think you can make do without these, the first-gen Palma can be an excellent e-reader device that you can carry with you to all places.
