New Dasung Revolutionary Edition E Ink Tablets With 50 Hz Refresh Rate Announced

Dasung has announced a pair of new E Ink tablets – Dasung Not-eReader 078 Revolutionary Edition and Dasung Not-eReader 103 Revolutionary Edition featuring a 7.8-inch and 10.3-inch E Ink display, respectively. The company is claiming the new Dasung Revolutionary Edition E Ink Tablets to be the world’s first to come with a 50 Hz refresh rate.

According to ITHome, both the E Ink Tablets come with 1872 × 1404 resolution panels having a 4:3 aspect ratio. Of course, the biggest selling point is the 50 Hz refresh rate, which will allow for smoother E Ink motion and interaction with negligible or minimized stuttering and reduced frame drops. Scrolling is going to be smoother than is otherwise the case with E Ink displays, while video playback is also going to be smoother.

Dasung Not-eReader 078 Revolutionary Edition

Specs specific to the Not-eReader 078 include a 300 PPI resolution, 4 GB RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage. Power comes from a 5400 mAh battery, which should be enough to last a couple of days at least, even though the company has yet to reveal anything specific on this so far. Also, the point to note here is that the Not-eReader 078 is strictly a tablet device and does not support display-as-monitor. It lacks the external monitor or mirroring functionality that some earlier Dasung products offered.

Dasung Not-eReader 103 Revolutionary Edition

While the larger Not-eReader 103 is known to have the same 1872 × 1404 display resolution, the company isn’t mentioning it to have a 300 PPI pixel density the same way it did for the Not-eReader 078. However, both tablets are reported to be using the higher-density panels at the stated resolution.

Implications of a 50 Hz refresh rate

A 50 Hz refresh rate for the new Dasung Revolutionary Edition E Ink tablets is a big deal, considering that E Ink typically suffers from a slow refresh rate. That makes it better suited for reading or displaying static content, but not for motion. While a 50 Hz E Ink panel still falls short of LCD or OLED, which have 60 Hz displays at the bottom spectrum, it still is positioned as a step towards a much smoother UI, video, and animation playback, along with a better overall reading experience with reduced ghosting.

Pricing and availability

The company is yet to reveal when the latest Dasung Revolutionary Edition E Ink tablets will be hitting store shelves or will be up for pre-order. Similarly, it is not known when it will be introduced globally or what it is going to cost. Stay tuned for pricing info and other details when they become available.

Other Dasung products launched in 2025 that have a high refresh rate

Dasung had earlier launched the Paperlike series of E Ink monitors that have high refresh rates.

  • Dasung Paperlike 103: A 10.3-inch E Ink monitor having 1,872 × 1,404 resolution, a 4:3 aspect ratio, and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Paperlike 103 was launched in January 2025.
  • Dasung Paperlike 13K: A 13.3-inch E Ink monitor first launched in April 2025 and has a 300 PPI resolution. It comes with a slightly lower 37 Hz refresh rate.
