Kobo has officially announced the launch of the Kobo Remote, a compact wireless page-turner designed to let readers flip through e-books without lifting a finger. The accessory is set for global release on November 4, 2025, marking the company’s first standalone hardware accessory launch in years.
A small accessory with big convenience
The Kobo Remote is a Bluetooth-enabled page-turning device that pairs seamlessly with compatible Kobo e-Readers. With just a click, users can turn pages forward or backward, which makes it ideal for hands-free reading, whether you’re lounging on a couch, lying in bed, or commuting.
The remote is compatible with Kobo’s Bluetooth-equipped models, including the Kobo Libra Colour, Kobo Clara Colour, and Kobo Elipsa 2E. Once paired, it allows readers to control page turns from a short distance, negating the need to physically touch the display.
Global launch — not just Australia
Although Kobo first unveiled the accessory in Australia and New Zealand, the company confirmed a wider international rollout. On November 4, the Kobo Remote will be available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and across Europe, as well as in several Asia-Pacific markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan.
- U.S. price: $29.99 USD
- Australia: AUD $44.95
- Malaysia: RM 155 (approx.)
The device will be sold through Kobo’s online store and select retail partners.
Why this matters for Kobo readers
The Kobo Remote may seem like a small update, but it signals Kobo’s growing focus on reader comfort and accessibility. Many Kindle users have relied on third-party page turners or physical buttons built into premium devices. Kobo’s new official accessory gives its ecosystem a similar level of flexibility. This is especially true for users who prefer minimal physical interaction with their e-reader.
This launch also aligns with Kobo’s push to support its new generation of color e-readers, introduced earlier in 2025. These devices are built with Bluetooth support, making accessories like the remote possible.
Competitive edge in the e-reader market
Amazon’s Kindle lineup remains dominant in North America and Europe, but Kobo has carved out a strong niche by emphasizing open formats, library integration, and ergonomic reading features. With the Kobo Remote, the company gains another small but meaningful differentiator, particularly for accessibility-minded users and power readers who prefer long reading sessions.
Industry observers see this as part of Kobo’s broader strategy to enrich the reading ecosystem without necessarily launching new e-reader models every year.
A subtle but meaningful upgrade
While it’s not a new e-reader, the Kobo Remote could be a game-changer for user comfort. By enabling hands-free page turning, Kobo is addressing one of the most common ergonomic pain points for avid readers, especially those who read for hours at a time.
As e-reader makers compete to enhance the reading experience rather than just display specs, Kobo’s latest move may give it an extra edge heading into the holiday season.
