Kobo Elipsa 2E and Kobo Libra Colour is now on Sale

It is not often that Kobo offers discounts on any of its e-reader devices. It is this that makes the present discount on several top-line Kobo devices so special. There is the Kobo Libra Colour, which is now selling for $20 less, while the Kobo Elipsa 2E is now cheaper by $50. The deals are only available in the US and can be availed of from the official Kobo site.

Some of the deals are also available on Amazon via Kobo’s official US reseller, BlueProton. Prices are the same as you’d get on the Kobo online store. For instance, the Kobo Libra Colour is on sale for $209.99, and the Kobo Elipsa 2E is selling for $249.99. You can buy the Kobo devices at discounted prices from the Kobo store on Amazon as well. However, the Kobo Elipsa 2E is low on stock, with only 15 units left at the time of this writing. The Libra Colour appears to be in stock.

A discount is also applicable to some Kobo accessories. For instance, the official sleep cover for the Kobo Libra Colour is on sale for 18 percent less than the original price. There is the Kobo Stylus 2 that is also selling for a 10 percent discount. Even with the discount applied, the Kobo Stylus 2 is priced $55.99, which is quite on the higher side. Check the Amazon Kobo Store for details on this.

The Kobo Libra Colour can well be considered as one of the best e-reader devices out there. The Kaleido 3 color e-paper display offers a glare-free reading experience in vivid colors. The physical page turn buttons on the side allow for a seamless reading experience. It adds to the user’s convenience and makes reading so much more immersive and fun. Also, a nice thing here is that you can jot down notes, convert them to text, and share with others easily.

The Libra Color also offers an adjustable front light. This ensures you are able to continue with your reading even at night. It offers advanced blue light control to ensure your sleep pattern does not get disrupted even after late-night reading sessions. Among the other positives of the Libra Colour include a lightweight and waterproof build. The 32 GB of onboard storage can be enough for hosting 24,000 e-books or 150 Kobo Audiobooks. It offers long battery life, while the waterproof build means you can take your reading to the bathtub as well.

The Kobo Elipsa 2E, on the other hand, can be considered an e-reader and a note-taking device rolled into one. The 10.3-inch E Ink display offers an expansive writing surface where you can jot down your ideas or draw detailed sketches using the bundled Kobo Stylus 2. However, the display offers 227 PPI resolution when most competing devices have adopted a higher 300 PPI resolution. That’s a few dots lacking and may not make much of a difference in real-life usage, but might be of concern for those who prefer the highest resolution for fine text rendering.

Nonetheless, the ComfortLight PRO feature with adjustable brightness and color temperature offers a very comfortable reading and writing experience irrespective of the ambient lighting conditions. You can connect to Dropbox or Google Drive to store your documents or share with others easily. It isn’t waterproof, though, but is made from recycled ocean-bound plastic. Apart from reading e-books, you can also listen to audiobooks using the Elipsa 2E.

None of the Kobo Clara models are on sale, while the Kobo Sage is out of stock.
