Bigme B13 – World’s First 13.3-inch Color e-Paper Monitor Now Available to Buy

The Bigme B13 E Ink monitor is now available to buy via Amazon. This announcement comes just a few weeks after the company first introduced the E Ink monitor, featuring a more compact 13.3-inch e-paper display. To be more precise, the monitor features a Kaleido 3-color e-paper display, offering 300 PPI black and white and 150 PPI color display resolutions. There is also a front light feature that illuminates the screen to ensure you are able to work even in the dark with no ambient light present. The company is referring to it as the world’s first 13.3-inch color e-paper monitor.

Another huge USP of the Bigme B13 is its high refresh rate. Bigme said the monitor is capable of hitting a refresh rate as high as 30 FPS. This is more than twice that of the around 10 – 12 fps that conventional e-paper displays are capable of at most. With a high refresh rate, the Bigme B13 should allow for a smoother scrolling effect as well as stutter-free video playback. However, what remains to be seen is whether the highest refresh rate setting comes at the cost of inferior image quality.

Connectivity options with the B13 are plenty, which include a mini-HDMI port and a pair of USB-C ports. Apart from these, the monitor also supports wireless casting, which includes DLNA, AirPlay, and Miracast. There is a 3.5mm audio jack available too. Besides, the monitor also features two external speakers. The monitor can be paired with computer devices running Windows and Mac as well as smartphones and tablets running Android or the Apple iOS. Some have also claimed to have paired the monitor with Linux devices as well.

The Bigme B13 is currently listed on Amazon for $729. This makes it more affordable than the Bigme B251 25.3-inch color E Ink monitor, which is priced more than double at $1659. You can also buy from the official Bigme Store where the monitor is priced a bit lower $699. Nonetheless, what is evident is that the prices have to come down significantly for the mass adoption of the e-paper monitors. Otherwise, it will remain only a niche segment, notwithstanding all the benefits that the e-paper monitors stand for.
