Amazon is currently offering attractive discounts on two of its latest Kindle models – Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. Both happen to be the newest model of Kindle Paperwhite, which Amazon launched in October 2024. Discount of up to 29 percent is available, which makes the deal quite lucrative. However, there is a catch: both the Kindle devices are classified as certified refurbished units, though Amazon is claiming them to be in ‘like new’ condition and is backed by a warranty.
The refurbished Kindle Paperwhite is now retailing for $106.99. It comes with 16 GB of storage and is ad-supported, which means there are going to be ads shown on the lock screen. It otherwise has a list price of $143.99. Amazon said the larger 7-inch glare-free display is complemented by a higher contrast ratio and 25 percent faster page turn speeds.
The front-lit display allows for warm and cold temperature controls for optimum reading experience at all times, be it while reading in bright sunlight or at night. The Paperwhite also boasts a waterproof build. Battery lasts 12 weeks on a single charge. It comes in shades of Jade, Black, and Raspberry, with the price remaining the same for all color options.
The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, on the other hand, is priced $126.99, which is 29 percent less than the list price of $179.99. The price applies to all three color options, Metallic Black, Metallic Jade, and Metallic Strawberry. The 7-inch glare-free display is backed by an auto-adjusting front light. The 32 GB of onboard storage can be good for thousands of e-books or a few hundred audiobooks easily.
The battery can last 12 weeks on a single charge and can be recharged via either USB-C or using the wireless charging dock. You will, however, have to buy the charging dock separately. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition also offers a waterproof build, which makes it safe for reading in the bath, by the pool, or during your seaside vacations. The Paperwhite SE will have no water-induced damage; you can be sure of that.
As for the refurbished tag, Amazon makes sure such devices are subjected to a thorough and extensive testing procedure to ensure each component is in perfect working order and delivers to the optimum. The internal storage is wiped clean while the software is updated to the latest available version. The battery is also tested and charged up to a specified level.
However, the Kindles might come in generic Amazon boxes and not the original retail packaging. Apart from this, the Kindles on sale are in ‘like new’ state, with Amazon also providing a warranty like it does to new Kindle devices. Also, it being a ‘limited time’ deal offering substantial savings, it is worth acting quickly before the deal disappears.
