The TCL Nxtpaper 11 Plus tablet can now be bought via Walmart in the United States, where it is priced $249.99. The model currently on sale comes with 8 GB of memory and sports a Black shade. However, it is only 4 units of the tablet are available at the time of this writing. So, you’d better hurry if you’d like to buy one.
What makes the tablet unique is that it can switch between a color e-paper display and a conventional screen with the flick of a switch. That way, it can function both as a conventional tablet as well as an e-reader or an e-note device. The key to that capability is the use of the NxtPaper 4.0 display technology, which enables the display to switch from an Ink Paper mode.
In this mode, the display attains the qualities of an e-book reader device, where you get to have a glare-free display with almost zero blue light emitted. This way, you can always turn on the Ink Paper mode when you are required to read or edit a long document. This will save you some serious eye burns associated with conventional displays, particularly when staring at them for long hours.
The tablet offers three display modes – Regular, Ink Paper, or Color Paper. You can choose any with the flick of a switch. The Ink Paper mode, as discussed above, offers the best eye protection mode and is hence the mode to select when reading, as this will cause the least eye strain. Then there is the Color Paper mode, which too will offer a paper-like feel but in color. This will be best suited for viewing color content like comics or other illustrated material. Lastly, there is the Regular mode, which offers the usual tablet experience.
The Nxtpaper 11 Plus tablet otherwise comes with an 11.5-inch display having 2.2k resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and 550 nits of brightness. The tablet also boasts the Smart Eye Comfort mode. Powered by advanced AI technology, the Smart Eye Comfort mode ensures you have the most optimal viewing experience while taking into account the content type being viewed as well as the ambient lighting conditions prevalent.
Under the hood lies a MediaTek Helio G100 processor, 8/12 GB of memory, and 256 GB of storage. The tablet runs Android 15 and is Android Enterprise Recommended certified. Keeping the lights on is an 8,000 mAh battery that is backed by a 33W charger. Accompanying the tablet is the TCL T-Pen, which, however, has to be bought separately. The pen can be used for writing, annotating, journaling, scribbling, or drawing on the display itself.
