Chinese e-reader manufacturer iReader announced it will be launching its new Tango series of smartphone-sized e-reader devices at an event on May 20. The Tango will come in two color options – Black and White, though everything else remains the same. That includes a 6.13-inch E Ink display on the front and a 6nm octa-core processor on the other side of it.
The company, however, didn’t reveal if the Tango will support smartphone features as well, which include the ability to make phone calls or send and receive messages. The segment is currently dominated by the Boox Palma, which is preferred by many for its smartphone-like compact dimensions. Notably, the Palma too is strictly an e-reader device and can’t be used for making calls.
Coming back to the iReader Tango, there is precious little that we know about the e-reader at the moment. However, what is known is that there is going to be a dedicated button for getting to the Bookshelf, Recently Read section. Other features the Tango will come with include a recording feature and a global refresh. Users will be able to take screenshots, while there will be an application section as well.
Keeping the device alive is a 3900 mAh battery, which iReader said will be good enough to allow for a standby time of 27 days.
More details are awaited. Stay tuned!
